the Respiratory Health Care Professionals (RHCP) group of The Lung Association,
Alberta & NWT, COPD & Asthma Network of Alberta (CANA), and Family Medicine,

6th Alberta Respiratory Disease Symposium
(ARDS), April 17 to 20, 2008 in Banff, Alberta.
This year’s conference will continue in the reputation of previous conferences
by delivering high quality accredited programming with speakers who enjoy both
Canadian and International acclaim for their expertise in the field.
ARDS 2008 registrants will benefit from the expertise of dedicated health professionals
who volunteer their time to ensure the success of this conference. Many of whom have
been instrumental in conference design and planning, as well as a wide range of

About the Conference
The Alberta Respiratory Disease Symposium (ARDS) brings together health professionals from all
disciplines. United by their
interest in respiratory care and research, delegates
have enjoyed a wide selection of clinical and
scientific interactive sessions. Striving for
balance and networking opportunities, the Planning
Committee ensures that the diverse interests of
participants have been considered to include
sessions that will engage those in community and
acute care, as well as those from pediatric to adult
settings.

Located just 1.5 hours west of
Calgary, The Rimock Resort Hotel in Banff National
Park is a majestic and superb destination for ARDS

Hotels of the World”, boasting great food and
amazing views. Please quote the conference when
booking to secure the special rates given to ARDS
delegates.

For alternative accommodations in Banff, we have also secured a room block at the
Rundlestone

been secured up to March 17,2008. Registering after

University of Alberta:
The Division of Continuous Professional Learning at the University of Alberta has approved this as an Accredited Group Learning Activity under Section 1 of the Framework of Continuing Professional Development options for the maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Alberta College of Family Physicians:

The Lorraine Awards Banquet and Reception
The Cross of Lorraine, symbol for all Lung
Association, signifies courage and success. The
Crest, bearing the double-barred cross, belonged to
the Duke of Lorraine and was first adopted as the
worldwide symbol of the fight against tuberculosis.
The Lorraine Awards event
recognizes innovative respiratory research, and
exceptional commitment to the prevention of
respiratory disease and to respiratory care in
Alberta. You are sure to finish the
evening feeling inspired and rejuvenated.
We invite
you to join us and some special guests for this
memorable event, taking place in the Ballroom on
Saturday, April 19 at 6:30 pm (dress code is
Semi-Formal/Business Attire).
Your full conference
fee includes one complimentary ticket. Additional
tickets are available through the registration
process.

Poster Session
Join your colleagues in
supporting the Poster Oral Presentation on Saturday
morning of the conference. Book Awards will be
presented to the three finalists at the banquet on
Saturday evening. All trainees whose Posters have
been approved for the Poster Session will be entered
in a draw for a door prize.
Special Activities
Banff, Alberta is an international holiday
destination. Saturday afternoon has been dedicated
for delegates to take some R&R, mountain style. Join
with your colleagues for some casual networking in a
variety of suggested activities.
- Hiking for
beginner and intermediate walkers; prearranged
routes and maps will be provided with possibility of
a guide. Bring your walking boots/shoes.
- Walk
across the road to the Banff Hot Springs.
- Walk
across the road to the Gondola and take a ride up to
the top of the Mountain.
- Head into town for a lunch or coffee at one of the many cafés. The
hotel’s shuttle leaves every 15 minutes.
- Stroll up Banff Ave. and do some window shopping, then…shop
till you drop.
- Take a walk along the Bow River to
the Bow Falls just below the Banff Springs Hotel
then walk up to the magical castle hotel and have
cocktails in one of the many lounge areas.
- Take advantage of the tremendous services at the Rimrock
Resort, the pools, fitness facilities or spoil
yourself in the tranquility of the full-service spa.
An ARDS 2008 representative will be on hand to help
you with your plans. Gather a group and enjoy the
